Gradall Forklift Part - The Gradall excavator was the creation of two brothers Ray and Koop Ferwerda. The excavator was established In the 1940's through WWII, when there was a shortage of labourers. The brothers faced the problems of a depleted workforce due to the war. As partners in their Cleveland, Moreno Valley construction business known as Ferwerda-Werba-Ferwerda they lacked the existing workers to be able to do the delicate tasks of grading and finishing on their freeway projects. The Ferwerda brothers opted to build an equipment which will save their company by making the slope grading task more efficient, less manual and easier.

Their initial design prototype was a device with two beams set on a rotating platform which was attached on top of a second-hand truck. A telescopic cylinder moved the beams forward and backward that allowed the fixed blade at the end of the beams to pull or push dirt. Before long enhancing the very first design, the brothers built a triangular boom so as to add more strength. Moreover, they added a tilt cylinder which let the boom rotate 45 degrees in both directions. A cylinder was placed at the back of the boom, powering a long push rod to enable the machinery to be outfitted with either a blade or a bucket attachment.

Gradall introduced in the year 1992, with the introduction of the new XL Series hydraulics, the most ground-breaking adjustment in their equipment since their creation. This new system of top-of-the-line hydraulics enabled the Gradall excavator to provide comparable power and high productivity to the more conventional excavators. The XL Series ended the initial Gradall equipment power drawn from low pressure hydraulics and gear pumps. These conventional systems successfully handled finishing work and grading but had a hard time competing for high productivity jobs.

Gradall's new XL Series excavators showed more ability to lift and dig materials. With this series, the models were produced together with a piston pump, high-pressure system of hydraulics that showed noticeable improvement in boom and bucket breakout forces. The XL Series hydraulics system was even developed along with a load-sensing capability. Conventional excavators use an operator to select a working-mode; where the Gradall system could automatically adjust the hydraulic power intended for the work at hand. This makes the operator's general work easier and likewise conserves fuel at the same time.

Once the new XL Series hydraulics reached the market, Gradall was thrust into the vastly competitive industrial machine market that are designed to tackle demolition, pavement removal, excavating as well as several industrial work. The introduction of the new telescoping boom helped to further enhance the excavator's marketability. The telescoping boom gives the excavator the ability to better position attachments and to work in low overhead areas.
